I hope you all are enjoying your summer. Here in Evanston and the greater Chicago area, a warning has been issued for the massive heat waves that have come upon us. It’s ridiculously hot, so stay hydrated and stay cool, wherever you all may be!
Good news! Thea and Jackie are now back in the garden, too, and we are well on our way into starting both short-term and long-term projects for Wild Roots. We look forward to working with the Northwestern community to help the garden grow.
A quick update on our veggies and herbs: last week, Jackie harvest 8 pounds of onions and leeks! Hooray! The Norris chefs were thrilled (and perhaps a little surprised!) by this delivery of delicious produce. This week, we’ve harvested zucchini, asparagus, collards, lettuce, and plenty of herbs. The Norris chefs used our lettuce, zucchini, and herbs for a dinner this evening for Mr. William Banis, Northwestern’s outgoing Vice President of Student Affairs, which is splendid.
More good news! Wild Roots will be having a Work Day this upcoming Sunday, July 24, from 10 am onwards. If you are in the area, we would love for you to join us! Any and all kinds of help will be greatly, greatly appreciated. For more information, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
